Eye-creases of affection washed across the congregation this past Lord’s Day as members of our Elijah Young Adults handed out personalized cards, with love and appreciation strewn across every page. Copious handmade, handwritten handiworks bedecked the hands of our beloved uncles and aunties, all of whom had served the church tirelessly over years past. Amidst the incessant elbow-bumping arose a festive cheer. What better way to celebrate the Thanksgiving Lord’s Day? Indeed, such unbridled joy proves an apt welcome for the coming season of Advent.
We turn to the Elijah Young Adults committee for their take on the event.
Nick: How did this idea come about?
EYAM Committee: It came about when we were brainstorming what to do for thanksgiving. We thought that especially in such times, all the more we should give thanks to our Father for the blessings and protection we have received, just like what was mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. We also wanted to share this thanksgiving, hence the idea of making a thanksgiving card for each household was conceived. We give thanks to God for allowing us to be able to gather and execute this idea successfully!
Nick: Amen! I think we all witnessed God’s touch of love upon the hearts of each card recipient. Can we expect more events like this from the Elijah Young Adults?
EYAM Committee: Yes! Most definitely. To be able to present Father’s Love for us and translating His love back to our Church members is truly a blessing and one of the many fruits we hope to bear continuously. Given this year’s unique situation, we were limited in our execution of ideas we had originally planned for. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to new beginnings in 2021 during which, we believe, through continuous prayer, God will inspire us with brand new ideas that will fit into our new normalcy, at the same time being in line with our values, that is to spread our Father’s word and love, and continue to serve.
Let us give thanks for our Elijah Young Adults and their willingness to serve our church community. May God continue to use them as vessels of grace within Zion Church!
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
